Explore a variety of local attractions including Historic Homes and Gardens, Galleries, Brewerys and Factories. Visit iconic landscapes such as Farewell Spit, Abel Tasman National Park, Te Waikoropupu Springs, Upper Buller Gorge, Cape Foulwind Seal colony and Pancake Rocks. Day 1: Orewa - Blenheim - Nelson – Nelson Sightseeing
Transport Orewa to Auckland, fly to Blenheim, Meet & greet by our Driver/Guide at the Airport. Drive from Blenheim Airport via scenic Queen Charlotte Sound to Havelock with a stop for lunch, feel free to join us at the Mussel Pot Cafe (Lunch not included). Drive from Havelock to Nelson where we will then be taken to Melrose House to explore the grand historic home and surrounding gardens and enjoy High Tea at The Melrose House Café. Following afternoon tea, we will be taken to The Heritage Rutherford Hotel to check into our accommodation where we will stay for the next two nights. Meals Included: Afternoon Tea.
Day 2: Nelson - Richmond - Moutere – Mapua - Brightwater – Nelson
Breakfast at the Hotel before embarking on our full day tour from Nelson to Richmond, the Moutere Hills and Mapua. First we will visit The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū. Next up is a guided tour of Pic's Peanut Butter World to hear the Pic's story, learn all about the processes and what goes on inside the factory, including tastings. We will then leave Richmond for an afternoon in the countryside of Appleby and the wine regions of the Moutere Hills. Stopping at the Moutere Artisan Village on the way to explore the glorious and gourmet food on offer and arts and crafts. Enjoy wine tasting and a 2 course lunch in an idyllic setting at Forsters Winery, just outside of the village. Enroute back to Nelson in the afternoon we will make a stop in Mapua and the Royce McGlashen Gallery - Royce is well known as one of New Zealand’s leading potters. Return to hotel, dinner on own arrangements. Meals Included: B, L
Day 3: Nelson – Abel Tasman – Torrent Bay - Kaiteriteri
After breakfast we will head off for a spectacular day experiencing Abel Tasman National Park. We check-in for our cruise in Kaiteriteri to Totaranui and return. Time to pause for photographs at famous Split Apple Rock before stopping at a Lodge for a seasonal seafood and salad lunch. After lunch, we have free time to relax or enjoy a short walk on the beach. At 3.10pm we will rejoin the cruise back to Kaiteriteri and transferred to Kaiteriteri Reserve Apartments, where we will stay for the next 2 nights. Meals included: B, L
Day 4: Kaiteriteri - Collingwood - Farewell Spit/Golden Bay - Collingwood - Kaiteriteri
After breakfast we will be transferred over the Takaka Hill to Collingwood. On arrival in Collingwood we will embark on our Farewell Spit Tour. Visiting Farewell Spit Nature Reserve as well as experiencing the Spit and the wide open spaces, Fossil Point, the Dune system, and Cape Farewell. Bring cameras and binoculars to make the most of this nature-lover's paradise. After this scenic tour we will make a stop at Te Waikoropupu Springs (Pupu Springs) before returning to Collingwood for lunch. Transfer back to accommodation. Meals included: B, L
Day 5: Kaiteriteri - Punakaiki - Greymouth
After breakfast drive south to Punakaiki. Enroute we will stop at the Swing Bridge in the Upper Buller Gorge. Our next enroute stop is at Cape Foulwind Seal Colony. Enjoy a close encounter with New Zealand fur seals in their natural habitat on the wild West Coast of the South Island. Enjoy lunch at a local café (own account) before boarding The Nile River Rainforest Train for a short interpretative train journey through primeval rain forest. Arrive at “Softrock Station”, nestled beneath the towering limestone bluffs, take a short walk from the station through the rainforest to the Nile River Suspension Bridge. Continue down the coast to Punakaiki, stopping at Pancake Rocks, continuing to Greymouth and check into our accommodation at The Ashley Hotel. Meals included: B
Day 6: Greymouth - Christchurch
After breakfast we will meet our driver and enjoy a guided tour of Monteith’s Brewery, including tastings. Walk through the original brew house and packaging house as our expert guide talks us through the process involved with crafting the 150-year-old beer recipes as well as the modern additions. After the tour, enjoy lunch at the Brewery, then transfer to the train station to embark on the iconic TranzAlpine Train - Truly one of the world’s great scenic train trips through the dramatic contrast of dry beech forests and tussock land on one side of the Alps and lush green landscapes on the other. Once we arrive in Christchurch we will be transferred to our accommodation – Christchurch City Hotel, Christchurch. Meals included: B, L
Day 7: Christchurch City - Auckland - Orewa
After breakfast at the hotel we will be transferred to the Airport for our flight back to Auckland and transferred back to Orewa. Meals included: B
